Perhaps some back story will be necessary, namely on the topic of supernovas. A supernova is the massive explosion of a star at the end of its life cycle. It occurs when the fusion inside of the star uses more energy than it radiates. When, like our sun Sol, the heat and pressure of the plasma fuses hydrogens into helium, much energy is released. However, gravity begins to take its toll as the star cools and creates larger elements, up to carbon and iron. Iron is pretty much the breaking point. Heavy elements mark an almost imminent supernova. When they explode, the contents of them are strewn across the galaxy or interstellar space. Then, those elements coalesce into planets as gravity and heat do their thing. The planets, and everything on them, are composed of stardust. You are the stuff of stars.
That is pretty amazing on its own. However, the interesting part will be covered presently. Since we, life on Earth, are essentially the stars, our study of the cosmos if effectively the cosmos studying itself. The universe is conscious and aware through intelligent life like humans. If you ponder that, it is probably one of the awe-inspiring concepts I can conceive.
So, in light of that, the spark of creativity was struck. Stardust Sentience, or the stars above becoming conscious of themselves through their progeny, humanity, is my new project. I hope to have at least some sketches soon and put to paper some of the ideas slithering around inside my skull. Well, I think that is as long and tedious for you, the reader, as I can muster, so with that I'll close.
* Update (06.15.07) - I've added three scraps with ideas for this project, if you have comments or your interests are piqued.
